So What is it?
A vlog is essentially a video version of a blog where someone shares experiences of their daily life or other specific topics by recording them and posting them onto a vlog or video sharing site like YouTube. The niches of vlogs vary widely and often include:
- Daily life
- Travel
- Food
- Gaming
- Various Hobbies
- Outdoor Activities
- and much more!
It's become an absolute favorite thing of many people across the world to watch, and many look forward to turning on the next episode of their favorite vlogs whenever they're uploaded. The idea of joining someone in they're experiences has turned this sort of content into a major form of entertainment!
It's also become a great educational tool where viewers can get an idea of what life in a certain profession is like. Mechanics, food truck operators, medical careers, tech careers, and so on. These have the benefit of usually being both educational and entertaining! There are also a lot of comedy vlogs which become popular due to the great humour that they feature!
What is a Vlog: The Purpose
Vloggers often seek to entertain or provide an educational experience for a topic. Some produce content daily, sort of like a video diary of their life, while others may only produce it every once in a while. These are often those who cover more specialized topics that may not need to post content everyday.
Vlogging has become a fantastic way to create a new source of income! Often times, income is generated with the vlog posts using ads, and merchandise once their vlog has become more popular! The sites and apps where these can be uploaded often have an ads system set up that people can use on their accounts. YouTube for example has it's own included ads system that can be used.
Once content becomes more widely viewed, merchandise is often a great way to bring in more income. Often times you favorite vlogger will have their own online store where you can buy things like hats, shirts, keychains, mugs, and other items! Sometimes they'll also offer exclusive content for sale and even memberships to buy for access to another series of vlog episodes that they've created!
What is a Vlog: Where to Find/Upload Them
There are many different platfoms where you can find vlogs to watch, or upload your own vlogs! Each has it's own benefits but some of them are going to have a lot more traffic than others.

It's a good idea to use it as it can be just a bit easier to get your video in front of the right people, with slightly less competition. However, we are not saying that it is necesarily going to be easy.
Twtich
Originally meant for streaming, twitch can also be a great place to upload vlogs, and much like other platforms on this list, it offers it's own system for turning your content into revenue generating content! While at first used primarily for gamer content, many other types of creators have also started on twitch and vlogging is a great use for the platform.
